Dedicated Community Member

Matt has been an Ardsley resident since 2018 and has been in love with Ardsley ever since. Even before moving to Ardsley from Manhattan, Matt knew that Ardsley was special.

Matt and his family began volunteering at the Halloween Trunk or Treat back when it was held at Pascone Park. The mayor at the time invited Matt to apply for a Library Trustee position and Matt became an Ardsley Library Trustee in 2020.

He currently serves as the vice-president for this board. During his tenure, the board has appointed five new trustees, revised policies, built budgets, revised the library’s five-year strategic plan, overhauled the evaluation process for the library director and hired a new library director. Matt supported the library staff to leverage library data to advocate for new positions in the library. Happily, the Library Director successfully used library circulation and attendance data to gain a new staff position at the library!

Matt was also a member of the Ardsley Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative Committee in 2021. As a committee member, Matt collaborated with many members of the Ardsley Community, including former Superintendent, Dr. Ryan Schoenfeld.

Matt has also volunteered at park cleanup events and planted new landscaping at Legion Park.

In 2023 Matt and his husband became parents through adoption. Matt’s son is currently thriving in grade four at Concord Road Elementary!

Matt has been coaching soccer for Rivertowns United Teams since 2024.

Matt’s deep love for the Ardsley Community continues to grow over time. Matt is ready and willing to bring his knowledge and experience to the next level as and serve the community as a school board trustee!

Experienced Educator

Matt has been an educator since 1999.

He began his educational journey as a music educator, and then moved into administration.

Matt has worked at the building and district levels since 2009 in public, independent and international school settings.

During his time as a central office administrator, Matt created and revised policies for city school districts, and was on the steering committee to update a district-level strategic plan. Matt was also asked to design a brand new school for Yonkers, one that focused on the arts, filmmaking and project-based learning. That school opened in 2024 and Matt became a building-based administrator at the school he created and designed.

Matt serves New York State educators as a team member on a state-level assessment committee, where he works with groups of educators from around the state on the new graduation measures, specifically project-based and performance-based assessments. These types of assessments will fulfill graduation requirements for students starting in 2028 - students will no longer have to pass Regents’ Exams to graduate from high school, they can complete projects where they show what they know and understand in different subjects.

Matt has first-hand knowledge regarding these changes that New York State will implement regarding graduation. Matt is excited to support Ardsley with his specific knowledge and expertise in these areas as all school districts in New York State transition to new graduation requirements.

You can find more information about these changes on the New York State Education Department Website. You can also click here: https://www.nysed.gov/grad-measures
